Red Cross Appeal (Drakesbrook Road Board) The Drakesbrook Road Board in the Shire of Waroona was established in 1898 to solve the road problem. No one was taking care of the roads so it was decided to set up a building where meetings could be held to make sure that people could get around town easier with carriages.

The image is of a medalette from Drakesbrook, now known as Waroona.

Meetings held during the week, culminating in a meeting held last night, in regard to, the movement tor the holding of “Westralia Day” on July 30 next for aggregating a sufficient sum to provide comforts for our returning wounded soldiers, have advanced the project considerably.
