Sharp & Co was first mentioned (TROVE) in the Daily News on Tuesday 20 September 1892. Sharp and Co. still trade today as T. Sharp and Co. Pty. Ltd. and can be found in the Connor Quinlan Building at 612-616 Hay Street in Perth. This brass token was issued by Sharp and Co. in approximately 1950 and is marked as No. 1, which indicated the chair number in the barber’s shop. In this way the owner could keep track of the amount of work done by each hair dresser.
