WWII Victory – Boulder

[item_table]
Yesterday 1248 victory medals from the Boulder Municipal Council were distributed to the school children in the Boulder district. Accompanied by the mayoress and the town clerk, the mayor, Mr. J. D, Teahan, visited the Infants, Boulder Central, South Boulder and Boulder Convent schools and personally presented a medal to each child. On the one side the emblem bears the inscription: — ‘Victory medal, August 15, 1945. To commemorate conclusion of world war 1939–45.’ On the obverse side is the coat of arms of the Municipality of Boulder. Presenting the medals Mr. Treahan said that V.P night was distinguished with street celebrations, and the children were later entertained with sports on the recreation ground. However, the events were likely to be forgotten and the council had decided on the presentation of the medals as a lasting memento of such a happy event. http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/95614840
